VNUK and Ngoc Linh Ginseng Development Centre sign strategic Memorandum of Understanding

On 23 August 2025, a delegation from VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education, The University of Danang, led by Dr Nguyen Hiep – Head of general, and Dr Le Hoang Sinh – Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, paid a visit to the Ngoc Linh Ginseng and Medicinal Herb Development Centre. The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone that not only expands collaboration in training and research but also aligns with the strategic development agenda of Da Nang City.

In particular, Decree No. 183/2025/ND-CP issued by the Government has, for the first time, established a legal framework for cultivating and harvesting medicinal plants in forest areas. This creates a pathway for Da Nang to become the central hub of medicinal herbs in Central Vietnam, contributing to the national strategy for the development of the bio-economy towards 2030.

    Key Areas of Cooperation

The two parties agreed to foster sustainable cooperation with specific objectives, including:

    • Testing and evaluation of bioproducts (using radiation technology, rare earth trace elements, etc.) on Ngoc Linh ginseng, Codonopsis pilosula, and Morinda officinalis.
    • Genetic analysis, digitalisation, and conservation of purebred strains of rare medicinal plants, alongside the development of agricultural training materials tailored to mutual capacity and interests.
    • Leveraging VNUK’s international partner network to advance research and high-tech applications in natural medicinal products, while expanding academic collaboration and product commercialisation.
    • Enhancing training and internships, linking students with real-world practices through interdisciplinary projects, particularly within the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme, thereby contributing to local economic development.

    Opportunities for VNUK Students

The MoU presents tangible benefits for students majoring in Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Specifically, our students will gain:

    • Opportunities for internships, research, and career pathways in the field of medicinal plants, especially with Ngoc Linh ginseng – a nationally significant herb.
    • Experience in a research–enterprise collaborative environment, integrating biotechnology, IT, AI, and business disciplines.
    • Engagement alongside faculty members in practical projects, directly contributing to the conservation and sustainable development of Vietnam’s valuable medicinal resources.

    2025 Additional Admissions

According to the Ministry of Education and Training’s official plan, VNUK will open its registration portal for the 2025 additional admissions round in early September. This will be the final opportunity for candidates aspiring to join VNUK in its pioneering study programmes: Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
