Overview

The history of Daegu Catholic University (CU) dates back to 1914. CU is the largest Catholic University in Korea, founded on Christian principles and all programs are Christ-centered. Today, the school acts with a new spirit and sense of purpose and direction in the 21st century.

CU plans to set up educational centers abroad to fulfill its goal of globalization. Throughout CU’s long history, the school has provided students with dedicated, motivated faculty and quality programs. The biggest priority for CU is to continuously improve the teaching and learning process. The lecturers are very active in teaching, scientific research, publishing, and community activities.

Program details

• The exchange period at Aston University takes place in 1 semester or 2 semesters (1 academic year).
• Student exchange program at DCU is open to all VNUK students.
• There is no limit to the number of VNUK students studying at DCU.
• Most subjects are taught in Korean. A small number of Tourism and Hospitality classes are taught in English.

Preparation

1. Application for participation in the program;
2. Transcript of study at VNUK (in English);
3. Confirmation paper as a VNUK student (in English);
4. Letter of recommendation (in English);
5. A copy of the student card;
6. A copy of the first page of your passport;
7. 03 passport photos;
8. English Certificate (TOEFL, TOPIK, IELTS…): optional.
-> VNUK’s Research and International Office will send the above documents of students via email to DCU.

Tuition

• DCU tuition: free.
• Tuition fee paid at VNUK: Students must pay at VNUK for the semester in which the student attends an exchange course and the amount of this tuition fee depends on the subject and the number of credits that the students enroll in VNUK Academic Affairs Office will notify parents and students of this tuition fee before leaving for school.

Average cost of living

• Dormitory cost (4 person room) – 598,000 KRW (527 USD) (18 weeks)
• One meal: 5,000 – 7,000 KRW (4.3 to 6 USD)
• Alien Card making fee – 30,000 KRW (26 USD)
• Insurance fee – 150,000 KRW ($132) a year or 120,000 KRW ($105) for 6 months
• Travel Card – 3,000 KRW (2.6 USD) (can be recharged as needed)
• Mandatory medical examination while staying at the dormitory – 10,000 KRW (8.6 USD)

Health Insurance

• Compulsory for international students, can be purchased upon arrival in Korea.

Apply for a student visa (Tier 4)

• Contact to apply at the Korean Embassy in Hanoi.

Deadline for nomination and registration / Required documents

• The nomination period for IBM students is from November to February next year. Hull still accepts late nominations to help students who wish to study at Hull.
• The nomination deadline for CSE students is until April. Hull still accepts late nominations for this major until early August without affecting student admission.
• Students are required to provide the coordinator of VNUK’s Research & International Office with the following basic information: Full name, date of birth, email address, and the field of study the student wants to transfer.
• Upon receipt of a nomination from VNUK, Hull will send the student an application form and the student must complete, and submit it as soon as possible. After that, students will receive a conditional offer and start making accommodation reservations.
• Students must prepare copies of their passports, English certificates, and transcripts to submit to Hull. If one does not meet the IELTS 6.0 requirements, they may register for a preparatory English course from May to August.
