On the morning of September 5, 2026, VN – UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK), The University of Danang, solemnly held the Opening Ceremony for the 2026–2027 academic year, welcoming a new academic year filled with aspirations, opportunities, and new journeys of growth.
In particular, the ceremony at VNUK was connected to and broadcast the inauguration ceremony of multi-level boarding schools in border areas, joining millions of people across the country in turning their attention to this major national celebration of education. The event also highlighted one of the core values of education: creating opportunities for everyone to learn, grow, and shape their own future.
A Formal Opening to the 2026–2027 Academic Year
The 2026–2027 academic year marks a significant perid for The University of Danang, as it has been selected by the Central Government as one of four universities to receive key investment, with a focus on comprehensive innovation and development toward becoming a national university, a leading higher education institution, and a model of Vietnamese higher education, on par with institutions in the region and around the world.
As part of this journey, VNUK continues to strengthen its role as a pillar of higher education internationalization within the University of Danang system, while striving to build an increasingly internationalized educational environment, further strengthen research, deepen engagement with businesses, and take a more pioneering role in innovation.
Attending the ceremony on behalf of The University of Danang were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – Member of the Da Nang Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Director of the University of Danang; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Dat – Acting Head of the Department of Science and International Cooperation; Ms. Ton Nu Tra Mi, M.A. – Deputy Chief of the Office of the University of Danang; Mr. Phan Hong Sang, M.A. – Deputy Director of the ODA Management Board; Dr. Ho Van Hung – Deputy Director in charge of the Center for Information Technology and Digital Learning Resources; and Mr. Thai Quang Son – Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Danang’s Office.
Representing VN – UK Institute for Research and Executive Education were Dr. Nguyen Hiep – Head of VNUK; Dr. Nguyen Thi My Huong – Former Head of VNUK; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Giang Thi Kim Lien – Deputy Head of VNUK; and Dr. Tran The Vu – Deputy Head of VNUK, together with VNUK’s faculty members, staff, lecturers, and Heads and Deputy Heads of departments, faculties, and affiliated units.
The presence of leaders of The University of Danang, successive generations of VNUK leaders, faculty and staff, and a large number of students contributed to creating a solemn, warm, and inspiring atmosphere for the Opening Ceremony.
Recognizing Outstanding Efforts and Achievements
The 2025–2026 academic year concluded with many achievements of which the VNUK community can be proud. Throughout their journeys in learning, research, graduation, and participation in various activities, many lecturers and students continuously demonstrated initiative and creativity while achieving outstanding results.
As part of the Opening Ceremony, VNUK honored and presented awards to individuals with outstanding achievements in the 2026 university admissions cycle, academic performance, graduation, and emulation activities during the 2025–2026 academic year.
In particular, newly admitted students who achieved high results in the 2026 university admissions cycle, students with outstanding academic achievements, and individuals who made positive contributions to emulation activities were recognized at the ceremony.
Each award represents well-deserved recognition of the efforts made throughout the past journey, while also inspiring a spirit of learning, striving for excellence, and pursuing continuous growth within the VNUK community.
Ready for a New Journey
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Hiep – Head of VNUK, emphasized: “Artificial intelligence is changing the way we work. Technology is changing the way businesses operate.” In a world where knowledge and technology are constantly evolving, what matters is not only what we learn today, but also our ability to keep learning, remain curious, think, collaborate, innovate, and make responsible decisions.
Entering the 2026–2027 academic year, VNUK continues to pursue the development of a modern and internationalized educational environment that places learners at the center and creates opportunities for students to develop comprehensively in knowledge, skills, mindset, and adaptability.
For new students, the Opening Ceremony marks the beginning of a new journey in higher education. For students from previous cohorts, it is an opportunity to set new goals, explore new opportunities, and prepare to take on the challenges ahead.
The 2026–2027 academic year opens a new chapter filled with aspirations and expectations. Building on the foundation established over the years, with the support of faculty and staff and the proactive spirit of its students, VNUK is ready to create new milestones in its journey of developing high-quality human resources, contributing to the development of The University of Danang and the wider community.
