From Dien Bien to Da Nang, the journey of more than 1000 kilometers is not simply a geographical distance, but the starting point of a challenging journey of growth for Tran Ngoc Quan, a Computer Science and Engineering student (23CSE) at VN–UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK), the University of Danang.
Leaving family behind, stepping away from a familiar environment, and moving out of a long-held comfort zone is never an easy decision for any freshman. But for Quan, it was a carefully considered choice driven by a clear desire: to find a learning environment open enough to explore, dynamic enough to develop, and challenging enough to grow.

When distance is no longer a barrier, but a motivation
The 1000km distance between Dien Bien and Da Nang not only represents geographical separation, but also marks a major shift in the mindset and lifestyle of a young student.
Coming from a familiar environment where everything felt stable, Quan stepped into an entirely new world, where initiative, independence, and adaptability became essential. Through that transition, he realized that “going far” was not simply about leaving a place behind, but about moving beyond his own limitations.

Alongside his studies, Quan has remained passionate about table tennis — a passion that came naturally from childhood, when he often watched his father play the sport. Those familiar moments gradually inspired his interest and eventually became an inseparable part of his life.
What started as a simple hobby gradually became a way for Quan to develop concentration, discipline, and especially the determination to never give up — qualities that are important not only in sports, but also in academic and personal growth.
His persistence was recognized with a Bronze Medal at the University of Danang Sports Festival 2026.
Notably, during the recent VNUK Pingball Tournament, Quan not only participated as a player but also enthusiastically guided, supported, and shared his experience with younger students who share the same passion for table tennis.
From practice sessions to competitions, Quan always brought a positive and approachable energy — reflecting the spirit of VNUK students: striving to improve themselves while always being willing to support and grow together with those around them.
Every student at VNUK follows a different journey, but shares the same destination
