International Business Management (IBM) – Transfer Program with VNUK

This program allows students to begin their studies at VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education in Vietnam and complete their degree at Heriot-Watt University in the UK, Dubai, or Malaysia.

Study Options:
• 2+2: 2 years at VNUK + 2 years at Heriot-Watt → Graduate with dual degrees from Heriot-Watt and VNUK.
• 3+1: 3 years at VNUK + 1 year at Heriot-Watt → Graduate with dual degrees from Heriot-Watt and VNUK. (Please note: The 3+1 option is available for September intake only.)
Upon meeting all academic requirements, students will receive degrees from both Heriot-Watt University and VNUK.

Entry Requirements

• Complete at least 2 or 3 years of study at VNUK and achieve the minimum grade point average (GPA) of 7.0;
• IELTS certificate from 6.0 or higher in which each skill has a minimum band score of 5.5 or other equivalent English certificates;
• Get the approval of the Dean/Head of the Department to participate in the transfer program.

Estimated Living Expenses

Average cost: £1,000 per month (~30 million VND) including on-campus accommodation, food, books, and personal expenses.
Heriot-Watt’s central campus location in Edinburgh means students living in university residences spend little on commuting.
Students choosing off-campus housing may have slightly lower living costs.

Health Insurance

Mandatory for all international students. Costs vary by study location but must be arranged before or upon arrival.

Student Visa

Depending on your campus choice:
Scotland (UK): Apply for a UK Student Visa (Tier 4).
– Submission location: VFS Global, 218 Bạch Đằng, Da Nang.
– Visa processing time: Typically 2–3 weeks after submitting a complete application.
– Some students may need to take a tuberculosis (TB) test before applying.

Malaysia: Apply at the Malaysian Embassy in Hanoi or the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Dubai: Apply at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Hanoi.

Part-time jobs for international students

In the UK: International students can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during holidays.
In Dubai & Malaysia: Work regulations for international students differ; students should check campus-specific policies.
