Introduction to George Mason University

George Mason University is a public research university located in Northern Virginia in the town of Fairfax, a suburb of Washington DC. The students can easily access the city, enjoy the culture thanks to the train and bus system as well as the two large airports there. Originally, it was a branch of the University of Virginia which became an independent institute in 1972; Nowadays, it is the largest public university in the state of Virginia, with 4 branches in the US and 1 branch in Korea. The university is granted more than $100 million in annual research and its faculty members have received numerous prestigious awards such as the Nobel Prize in economics. Generally, the academic quality at the school is good, and the cost of study is affordable. 75% of students receive financial aid, the admission rate is not too competitive as approximately 87% of applicants are admitted.

Scholarship Information

Students of the 2+2 program of VNUK and George Mason University have the opportunity to receive Merit Scholarships or Global Idea Scholarships.

• Merit Scholarships are awarded to students with high academic achievement (GPA of 3.2/4.00 or higher). The scholarship is worth $10,000 per year and is granted for two years;
• Students who are not eligible for Merit Scholarships will be considered for the Global Idea Scholarship. This scholarship is worth $5000 per year.

The scholarship will be awarded at the time of admission. The amount awarded will be mentioned in the offer of admission provided to the student.

George Mason University tuition

• Tuition: approximately $37,976 per year;
• Accommodation in school dormitories: approximately $11,300 – $16,200 per year;
• Studying materials, insurance & other expenses: approximately $6,000 – $7,000 per year.
