To commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Vietnamese War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (27 July 1947 – 27 July 2026), student volunteers from the VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education – The University of Danang (VNUK) joined hands with the Ia Chim Commune Youth Union, the Commune Police Youth Union, and the Ia Chim Veterans’ Association to organise a clean-up and incense offering ceremony at the Memorial Shrine dedicated to Fallen Heroes on Chu Gret Hill.
In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, VNUK volunteers and participating organisations worked together to clean the memorial site by sweeping, clearing overgrown vegetation, collecting litter, cleaning the worship area, and improving the surrounding grounds. Although simple, these meaningful activities helped preserve the memorial site while demonstrating deep respect for those who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence and freedom.
Following the clean-up, the delegation respectfully offered incense and observed a moment of silence in memory of the Fallen Heroes who devoted their youth and gave their lives for the independence of the nation and the peace and well-being of the Vietnamese people.
Beyond expressing gratitude to previous generations, the activity also served as an opportunity to educate student volunteers about Vietnam’s revolutionary traditions, strengthen their sense of civic responsibility, and inspire them to preserve the nation’s historical and cultural values.
For VNUK students, every activity in the 2026 Green Summer Campaign is more than just community service. It is an opportunity to deepen their understanding of history, appreciate the values built by previous generations, and carry forward the Vietnamese tradition of “remembering the source while drinking the water” through meaningful and practical actions.
One stick of incense – One heartfelt tribute.
