– Can you introduce yourself a bit?
My name is Võ Minh Nhựt, a fourth-year student of the 20th cohort majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. I am currently preparing my graduation project. I really love music; for me, I can’t work productively without music playing in the background. A day without music feels very dull.
As for my weaknesses, I’m quite bad at physical education and tend to forget things easily. Except for extremely important matters, I often forget if I don’t write them down. I also have some personal strengths, among which my ability to self-learn and adapt quickly to different learning and working conditions has contributed significantly to some personal achievements. Additionally, I work well both individually and in teams.
– What left the deepest impression on you from the past semester at VNUK?
These two semesters in my fourth year will likely be my last at VNUK, so they will leave many impressions on me. According to my personal goals, I had to dedicate a lot of time preparing for my future career after completing my final-year internship. Because of this, I didn’t have much time left for VNUK in general or extracurricular activities as I did passionately in my second and third years. However, during the last courses, I had more opportunities to talk with professors and friends, to study, seek advice, and prepare knowledge for my career ahead.
I like VNUK’s program because it gives me a chance to “spread my wings early,” allowing me to experience an internship in the third year so that by the fourth year, I was more confident in my knowledge and skills. The practical knowledge gained during the internship and the feedback from professors and peers during the defense session all provided valuable lessons. To this day, I still feel lucky to have met those people.
– Who or what inspired you to pursue Computer Science?
I used to be a rather fickle person, easily losing interest in things, but I always had a passion for technology, which probably pushed me to follow this path.
However, Computer Science wasn’t my initial choice. In middle school, I was a literature-specialized student; my knowledge of computers and programming was limited to basic classroom lessons. Then a teacher wanted to form a computer science team at school and accidentally picked me.
That’s how I started on this path. I passed the entrance exam for the computer science specialization at Lê Quý Đôn High School, where teachers and friends greatly inspired my career choice later. If I had the chance to choose again, I would still choose Computer Science because I know it’s not just a profession that chooses a person; it’s also a continuation of my childhood passion and interests.
– How has the Merit Scholarship helped you in your studies?
The Merit Scholarship is not just a personal achievement or a nice addition to my CV when applying for jobs. For me, it is both motivation and an opportunity to pursue my academic path.
Coming from a family without much financial means, the Merit Scholarship gave me a precious chance to keep moving forward in my studies. Throughout my four years at VNUK, I have strived to maintain the best grades and actively participate in academic and extracurricular activities to earn the Merit Scholarship every year.
Looking back now, I am proud that I seized the opportunity, held on to it, and used it as a stepping stone to become a better version of myself every day.
