International Students Experience Vietnamese Culture in a Unique Way at VNUK

Following the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) 2026 holiday, VNUK warmly welcomed back Norwegian students from the Kulturstudier program to continue their studies at the Institute. The new semester began with an inspiring Vietnamese culture class that combined academic depth with hands-on experience.

In addition to the core Development Studies course, Kulturstudier and VNUK collaboratively design supplementary classes and meaningful field trips, providing students with comprehensive insights into sustainable development and the socio-economic transformation of the city.

Course: “From Traditional to Modern: The Evolution of Vietnamese Culture”

Delivered by lecturers from the Faculty of Economics and Business, this course introduces students to the evolution of Vietnamese culture from traditional foundations to modern developments. Beyond theoretical knowledge, students engage in interactive activities that deepen their understanding of Vietnamese identity in a contemporary context.

When the Classroom Becomes a Cultural Experience

The session was thoughtfully designed as a miniature cultural space where students had the opportunity to:

    • Paint traditional Vietnamese conical hats – an iconic symbol of Vietnamese elegance
    • Taste traditional Lunar New Year specialties
    • Receive lucky money as a gesture of good wishes for the new year
    • Interact and learn alongside VNUK students in a friendly and open atmosphere

These activities not only brought joy and excitement but also enabled international students to gain a deeper appreciation of the cultural meanings behind Vietnamese customs and traditions.

    Academic Engagement and Cultural Exchange

With the dedicated support of VNUK lecturers and students, the class offered both strong academic value and meaningful cultural connections between Vietnamese and international students.

The Kulturstudier program at VNUK continues to affirm the Institute’s commitment to internationalization, providing a multicultural learning environment where students not only study Vietnam but truly experience and live its culture.
