International Marketing is a key module in the International Business and Management program. This semester, VNUK students have the privilege of learning from Mr. Dao Quoc Nguyen, a lecturer with extensive experience working in major corporations across multiple countries. To bring an additional industry perspective, students will have the opportunity to attend a special guest lecture by a professional who is both distinguished and familiar to VNUK – Mr. Nguyen Ha Long, Director of the E-commerce Division and Samsung Experience Stores, Samsung Vietnam.
✈ Drawing on his wealth of experience managing consumer electronics products in various countries, Mr. Nguyen Ha Long will deliver a session on Distribution Channels. But first, let us take a brief look at what this term entails.
When aiming to expand globally and enter international markets, multinational corporations must adopt strategic approaches to select their target markets, determine suitable distribution channels, and position their products or services appropriately to support sales. This requires in-depth understanding of local contexts – including policies, culture, and socio-economic conditions – as well as a clear, well-developed plan to ensure success. Essentially, this means the company must oversee the entire journey of its products or services, from domestic production to delivery into the hands of end customers abroad.
✈ In theory, students can grasp the fundamental concepts of distribution channels from the latest textbook International Marketing by Pervez N. Ghauri and Philip Cateora. However, understanding the realities of selecting and managing distribution channels – with all their complexities and influencing factors – is something that only seasoned industry professionals can truly convey.
Let’s explore the remarkable professional profile of Mr. Nguyen Ha Long and prepare our most insightful questions for him during the workshop:
Since graduation, Mr. Nguyen Ha Long has devoted most of his career to Samsung Group, serving in various positions within the consumer electronics sector not only in Vietnam but also in multiple international markets, including South Korea, U.A.E, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. At one point, seeking a change of environment, he joined the pharmaceutical industry as Strategic Planning Manager & Chief of Staff at Sanofi Vietnam. Nevertheless, his passion for marketing and consumer electronics ultimately brought him back to Samsung, where he managed operations across four markets: Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. In 2022, he returned to Vietnam to assume his current role as Director of the E-commerce Division and Samsung Experience Stores at Samsung Vietnam. He is regarded as one of the youngest managers who has made significant contributions to Samsung’s growth in the Vietnamese market.
If there is one thing to say about Mr. Ha Long, it is that he embodies a continuous learning spirit and an eagerness to embrace challenges in new and demanding roles. Those who meet him often speak highly of his humility, and above all, his strong commitment to education. He is always willing to dedicate time to share his knowledge and experience with the next generation of students.
Are you ready? This workshop is open to all VNUK students – don’t miss the opportunity to expand your knowledge and gain practical insights from an industry leader.
