VN-UK Institute For Research and Executive Education – The University of Danang, proudly congratulates Dr. Le Hoang Sinh – Head of the Faculty of Science and Technology – as one of two outstanding scientists awarded funding from the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) for a research project in 2025. This prestigious grant recognizes Dr. Sinh’s exceptional research capability, strategic vision, and leadership role within the scientific community.

An International Academic and Research Journey

Before joining VNUK, Dr. Sinh built a strong international academic and research foundation. After graduating in Materials Science from the University of Science – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, he worked at the Center for Plastics and Rubber Engineering, Department of Science & Technology, Ho Chi Minh City. He then received a full scholarship for his PhD at Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea, specializing in high-performance composite materials for electronics applications.

Following five years in South Korea, he pursued postdoctoral research at the Polymer Technology Laboratory, Aalto University, Finland, focusing on advanced nanomaterials for renewable energy and biomedical polymers. During this period, Dr. Sinh participated in numerous prestigious international research projects, including FLEXCAP – flexible supercapacitors, Artivasc3D – 3D vascular modeling, and collaborations with Samsung Electronics and KITECH. These international experiences equipped him with modern research thinking, multidisciplinary project management skills, and a global scientific perspective.

NAFOSTED-Funded Project 2025
The 2025 NAFOSTED-funded project, titled “Development of Bioglue and Advanced Nanomaterials for Biomedical Applications” (Project Code: 108.05-2018.19), aims to develop advanced bio- and nanomaterials for healthcare, renewable energy, and electronic devices. This project demonstrates Dr. Sinh’s research excellence and leadership in managing significant scientific endeavors.

Leadership and Inspiration
Beyond his research achievements, Dr. Sinh is also a leader and an inspiration. As Head of the Faculty of Science and Technology, he has guided multiple research teams, promoted interdisciplinary projects, and fostered a dynamic, open, and creative academic environment for students. He led the development of ventilators during the COVID-19 pandemic and actively organized and reviewed international conferences, reinforcing VNUK’s presence in the global scientific community.

Publications and Patents
Dr. Sinh has published over 50 international scientific papers in prestigious journals such as ACS Applied Energy Materials, Environmental Research, and Journal of Materials Science, and holds multiple international patents on graphene, bio-based polyurethane, and supercapacitors. These accomplishments enhance both his personal reputation and the growing recognition of VNUK’s faculty in scientific research and education.
