Promoting Scientific Cooperation between VNUK and the Ho Chi Minh City Biotechnology Center

On August 21, 2025, the Vietnam–UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK) had the honor of welcoming Dr. Nguyễn Hải An, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Biotechnology Center (HCMBiotech), during his visit and working session at the Institute.

Representing VNUK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Giang Thị Kim Liên, Vice Director, introduced the Institute’s history and its pioneering mission in training emerging technology fields, including Biomedical Science, Materials Technology with a focus on Nanotechnology, and Biotechnology.

During the meeting, Dr. Lê Hoàng Sinh, Head of the School of Science and Technology, shared previous collaboration activities and proposed new directions for interdisciplinary development in research and training. On the partner’s side, Dr. Nguyễn Hải An highlighted the Center’s research strengths such as biomedical science, genetic technology, biomaterials, and sustainable agriculture.

The two sides discussed and reached agreement on several cooperation initiatives:
Drafting the contents of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as the foundation for long-term collaboration.
Exchanging scientific profiles (research CVs) of faculty members and researchers to identify common strengths and develop joint research projects.
Moving toward establishing an interdisciplinary research group that connects experts from both institutions.
Collaborating on scientific experiences and STEM education activities for students at various levels to inspire passion for research and support career orientation.
Promoting research and the application of scientific outcomes in production, business, and technology transfer, thereby creating practical engagement opportunities for students across VNUK’s three academic divisions: Business and Management, Science and Technology, and Information Technology.

This event marks an important milestone in the partnership between VNUK and the Ho Chi Minh City Biotechnology Center, opening new opportunities for integrated research, training, and application. It contributes to fostering innovation, sustainable development, and the training of high-quality human resources.
