After eight weeks of learning and cultural exploration at the VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK), The University of Danang, the Kulturstudier delegation from Norway has officially concluded its study program in Vietnam. Beyond classroom learning, the program offered international students opportunities to discover Vietnam’s history, culture, society, and people through cultural exchange activities and field trips across Da Nang and its surrounding areas.
Eight Weeks of Learning and Exploring Vietnamese Culture
The journey began with a warm Welcome Ceremony at VNUK, where Kulturstudier students met lecturers and Vietnamese students and became acquainted with their new learning environment in Da Nang. The event marked the beginning of a series of activities designed to foster connections, cultural exchange, and shared learning experiences throughout the program.

During their time at VNUK, students attended Vietnamese culture classes delivered by VNUK lecturers. Through lessons exploring the country’s history, society, people, and everyday life, students gained insights into Vietnam from different perspectives and developed a deeper understanding of the cultural context in which they were studying and living.

Beyond the classroom, a series of field trips brought learning to life, allowing students to explore Vietnam’s natural environment, cultural heritage, local businesses, and community life firsthand.
Son Tra Peninsula: Students explored the area’s natural ecosystems and biodiversity while learning about environmental conservation efforts in one of Da Nang’s most ecologically significant areas.

Da Nang Museum: The visit introduced students to the history, development, and cultural heritage of Da Nang, helping them gain a deeper appreciation of the city and the wider Central Vietnam region.

My Phuong Company Limited: Students learned about the production and business operations of a local company specializing in natural coconut-based food products, gaining insights into how locally produced goods are developed and brought to market.

CAS Energy Company: The visit provided an introduction to the energy sector, business operations, and issues related to sustainable development.

Co Tu Ethnic Village: Students had the opportunity to learn about the daily lives of the local community, explore traditional cultural practices, and experience the warmth and hospitality of the Co Tu people.

Through these activities, students were able to connect classroom knowledge with real-world experiences, developing a broader understanding of development, culture, and social issues in Vietnam.
Cultural Exchange and Connections Beyond Borders
One of the program’s key highlights was the opportunity for international students to connect with the VNUK student community. Through conversations, shared activities, and cultural experiences, students exchanged perspectives, explored cultural differences, and built new friendships.
For VNUK students, the program also provided valuable opportunities to practice English in an international environment, strengthen intercultural communication skills, and develop a global mindset. Accompanying their international peers on explorations of Da Nang also allowed Vietnamese students to rediscover their hometown, culture, and community through fresh perspectives.
The Farewell Party marked the end of the eight-week journey with shared memories, commemorative gifts, and warm wishes for the students’ next adventures. Although the program has come to an end, the experiences and connections formed during their time at VNUK will remain a meaningful part of each student’s learning journey.
