Recently, the Youth Union of the VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VN-UK) under the Youth Union of the University of Danang collaborated with the Youth Union of the People’s Procuracy of Region 1 – Da Nang and the Youth Union of the People’s Procuracy of Region 3 – Da Nang to organize a highly practical event. It was a mock trial prosecuting the crimes of “Organizing the illegal use of narcotics” and “Illegal use of narcotics”, combined with advocacy for Resolution No. 205/2025/QH15 on initiating civil lawsuits to protect public interests and vulnerable groups. The event attracted the attention and participation of a large number of students.
Turning the lecture hall into a real “courtroom”
Instead of merely absorbing dry theories in class, students experienced a realistic legal environment. By recreating an intricate criminal case with a practical context, the mock trial provided an intuitive perspective on the entire trial process. Everything from the indictment and the intense litigation to the final verdict was meticulously constructed.
This was not just a simple advocacy activity but a profound cautionary lesson about the unpredictable harms of drugs. The experience helped students raise their awareness of legal compliance and clearly recognize their personal responsibility in creating a safe and civilized school environment.
Spreading a proactive spirit with Resolution 205/2025/QH15
Besides the highlight of the criminal trial, the program cleverly disseminated the core contents of Resolution No. 205/2025/QH15. The bright spot of this activity was helping young people thoroughly understand the mechanism for protecting public interests and the legal rights of vulnerable groups in society.
The advocacy activity aimed to strongly shift the students’ mindset: moving from a state of “passively waiting to be protected” to an attitude of “proactively learning, accessing, and using legal tools.” As a result, students can not only protect themselves but also confidently contribute to protecting their families and the surrounding community.
