    VNUK Career Discovery Explorer 2022

If I had to describe this journey in one word, it would be “exciting.”

Through all three stops of the Career Discovery voyage, I gained valuable knowledge and skills to better understand myself and map out my future career path. I first heard about the program while working with the Career Services team, and I was genuinely impressed by the organizing team’s effort in putting together such a top-tier workshop series.

Of all the sessions, the one that left the strongest impression on me was “Professionalism in the Workplace” by Ms. Skylar Phạm. She completely changed the way I viewed the workplace—introducing ideas I had never considered before about grooming, communication, and behavior. Her workshop made me reflect deeply on many things I didn’t know about professional conduct in various work environments.

Sure, I could have learned from books or the Internet what clothes are appropriate for work, but nowhere else would I have learned how to make your outfit speak for your personality, show your character, and represent yourself wisely in a professional setting. I wouldn’t have known which perfumes or scents are suitable for different workplace environments, either.

After that workshop, I realized that many seemingly minor details can have a significant impact on how we’re perceived in the workplace—and it’s something we should all pay more attention to.

Before joining the program, I already had some foundational knowledge about the topics covered in Career Discovery 2022. But surprisingly, that didn’t make the sessions feel repetitive. On the contrary, the workshops helped me gain deeper insights into those concepts and extract even more value from the guest speakers. After the program, I took time to reflect and gained a clearer vision of my career path—something I truly appreciate.

To anyone considering joining: Come with a mindset of learning and self-discovery! You’ll absolutely find useful and meaningful takeaways during your Career Discovery days. And don’t forget to take full advantage of the speakers—it’s rare to have such an opportunity to explore the “hidden treasures” they carry with them.

If I had to describe the Career Discovery journey in one word, it would be “awesome.”

I’ve realized that in order to find a job you truly enjoy and to grow fully as a professional, understanding yourself is crucial. Career Discovery 2022 not only brought me closer to that goal, but also gave me a complete overview of the whole process: from choosing a work environment that fits your personality, to crafting a resume that catches recruiters’ attention, to learning how to conduct yourself professionally in the workplace.

I applied all the practical, insightful tips shared by the speakers to successfully complete my internship—smoothly and confidently.

The speaker who impressed and stayed with me the most was Ms. Phạm Thị Minh Thủy, MSc.
She’s probably a familiar face to many VNUK students thanks to her positive energy. But more than that, her deep knowledge and engaging way of sharing, especially through real-life workplace stories, always inspire and excite students.

Personally, this journey was truly valuable—and the lineup of excellent speakers made it even better.
So whether you’re interested or not, you should still go. Seriously.

Now it’s time to lift the anchor and set sail!
