On the afternoon of April 24, the closing ceremony of the 14th Student Sports Games 2026 officially took place, concluding days of exciting and dramatic competition among young athletes from member universities of the University of Da Nang.
Joining the region’s largest sports event, the VNUK sports delegation left unforgettable marks. Beyond the medals, the lessons in courage and teamwork were the most valuable achievements our students gained.
Steely resolve and spectacular comebacks
The brightest highlight of this journey was the bronze medal in men’s basketball. The third-place match followed an incredibly tense script as the VNUK team faced a score disadvantage at times. However, in the final minutes, the never-give-up spirit of the “boys in red” blazed fiercely.
The whole team broke through, scoring consecutive crucial points to overturn the game amidst the roaring cheers from the stands. Notably, student Doan Quang Thuan (class 21IBM1) had a brilliant season, winning the “top scorer” title. This is a clear testament to how individual talent harmonizes with collective cohesion.
Leaving a mark across multiple disciplines
Besides basketball, VNUK’s pride was extended with a bronze medal in men’s singles table tennis—a well-deserved result of silent, hard training and persistent willpower.
In other categories, even without reaching the top spots, every VNUK student showcased a dynamic and professional image. Each match was an opportunity for them to push their own limits, learn from opponents and grow through every real-world encounter.
The 2026 sports festival closed not just with numbers on a scoreboard but with emotional hugs and the pride of wearing VNUK colors.
