VNUK joins the Alliance for Semiconductor and Electronics Research & Training and signs a strategic partnership with HSIA and SHTP Labs
On August 21, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam–UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK), University of Danang, proudly became one of the 15 founding members of the Alliance for Semiconductor and Electronics Research & Training (ARTSeMi) for the 2025–2030 period.
The Alliance was established to concretize Plan 1231 of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee in implementing Vietnam’s Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050. Serving as a “common home” for enterprises, research institutes, universities, and related organizations, the Alliance aims to foster the growth of Vietnam’s semiconductor and electronics industry. The VNUK delegation attending the event was led by Dr. Nguyen Hiep – Director, and Dr. Le Dinh Dung – Head of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology.

Key activities of the Alliance include: sharing technical and technological information; co-developing and publishing scientific research; intellectual property registration; training and human resource development; technology transfer; and expanding international cooperation. According to the national strategy, by 2030 Vietnam requires at least 50,000 high-quality professionals, with Ho Chi Minh City alone assigned to train around 9,000 specialists in IC design, chip manufacturing, and related technologies.
Within the framework of the event, VNUK signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HSIA and SHTP Labs – the Research & Development Center of Saigon Hi-Tech Park. The collaboration focuses on:
Developing training programs and advanced workshops for faculty members, students, and graduate learners in MEMS, sensors, UVLED, nanotechnology, and related fields.
Connecting domestic and international enterprises to provide internship, thesis, and recruitment opportunities for students.
Jointly conducting research projects, publishing international scientific papers, and organizing specialized conferences.
Introducing short-term training programs on semiconductors, microelectronics, and AI-IoT technologies to government departments and sectors nationwide.
By joining ARTSeMi and signing strategic partnerships with leading industry partners, VNUK reaffirms its pioneering commitment to research, training, and international integration, while contributing directly to Vietnam’s goal of becoming a regional hub for semiconductor workforce development.
