U-Invent National Science and Technology Innovation Competition for High School Students:
U-Invent is a scientific, technological, and engineering innovation competition for high school students aimed at encouraging the application of school knowledge to solve real-life problems. Organized annually by the Vietnam – UK Institute for Research and Training (VNUK), University of Danang, the competition fosters creativity, problem-solving abilities, scientific entrepreneurship, and particularly community service among students, both in Da Nang city and nationwide. U-Invent also seeks to identify outstanding student teams for further nurturing and participation in higher-level innovation competitions such as the National Science and Engineering Fair (ViSEF) or the Invent for the Planet (IFTP) competition, held at Texas A&M University (USA).
U-Invent Season 7:
U-Invent 7 returns with the theme “Innovation for a Safer Future”, proposing initiatives to enhance safety for individuals in: cyberspace, living spaces, and educational environments. This year promises to continue inspiring students with creative solutions that integrate modern science and technology towards a safer, more secure life.
Competition Details:
2.1 Target Audience:
High school students nationwide.
2.2 Competition Theme:
“Innovation for a Safer Future.”
2.3 Tentative Schedule:
From October 6, 2024, to January 5, 2025 (including 5 focused competition sessions and 2 training workshops on Sundays during this period).
Registration deadline: By October 11, 2024.
Kick-off Day: October 13, 2024.
Solution Day: October 27, 2024.
Prototype Day: November 17, 2024.
Semifinal: December 8, 2024.
Final & Prize Announcement: January 5, 2025.
2.4 Benefits of Participating in U-Invent:
Network and learn from fellow young people passionate about science and technology with a shared desire to create value for society.
Collaborate with experts in science, technology, and socio-economics throughout the competition.
Access to the Maker Innovation Space at VNUK, equipped with modern tools like electronic circuit printers, 3D printers, laser cutters, etc., to create your products.
Develop creative products as a “stepping stone” for preparing for larger competitions like the National Science and Engineering Fair (ViSEF) or Invent for the Planet (IFTP) at Texas A&M University (USA).
2.5 Product Evaluation Criteria:
Novelty and creativity of the project.
Technical and economic feasibility.
Practical application of the prototype.
Progress of the project through various competition stages.
Quality of the presentation to the judges.
2.6 Prizes:
Total prize pool: Up to 56,000,000 VND in cash, plus additional physical prizes from sponsors.
Prizes include:
1st Prize: 20 million VND, a commemorative plaque, certificates for each team member, sponsor gifts, and a support package to participate in the Invent for the Planet (IFTP) 2025 competition in the USA worth $1500 (approx. 36 million VND).
2nd Prize: 15 million VND, a commemorative plaque, certificates for each team member, and sponsor gifts.
3rd Prize: 10 million VND, a commemorative plaque, certificates for each team member, and sponsor gifts.
Creative Prize: 5 million VND, a commemorative plaque, certificates for each team member, and sponsor gifts.
3 Encouragement Prizes: 2 million VND, a commemorative plaque, certificates for each team member, and sponsor gifts.
All participants from the Solution Presentation Day onwards will receive certificates of participation in U-Invent 7.
