Let’s meet Anh Thư, a Year 19 Biomedical Science student who has excellently earned the prestigious Full Master’s Scholarship from the Hungarian Government – Stipendium Hungaricum.

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship is a prestigious program offered by the Hungarian Government, attracting many applicants from countries all over the world. Due to the limited number of scholarships and the high quality of candidates, winning this scholarship requires meeting many particularly competitive criteria.

–  Could you please introduce yourself a little?

Hello everyone, I’m Ngô Dương Anh Thư, Year 19 Biomedical Science student who has just completed the graduation program at VNUK. I’m very happy to share today my wonderful experiences in conquering the prestigious scholarship from the Hungarian Government.

– Just when it seemed like the dream of securing the full Master’s scholarship from the Hungarian government was over, what happened next?

The professor ended my interview by saying, “Good job Anh Thu! See you in September.” That phrase made me think it was just a polite farewell professors say to candidates as encouragement and consolation. The interview was arranged on short notice—I only had about six hours to prepare—and lasted a tense 25 minutes. The professor asked me a ton of specialized questions, covering my thesis, research experience, study plan, and future aspirations.

– How did you feel when you found out you received the scholarship?

My journey to win the scholarship was quite challenging, but I managed to accomplish and complete the most important tasks just in the nick of time.

The day I received the acceptance letter from the university stating, “We are happy to inform you that you have been accepted by a Hungarian higher education institution to a study programme you have selected in your application,” I was truly overjoyed and grateful. I thank myself for the determination to persevere and never give up, even during the toughest moments and stages in pursuing this dream.

-Who would you like to thank on your journey so far?

I am grateful to all the important pieces that helped me achieve success today. Thank you to the teachers who have always enthusiastically supported me from the very beginning of the application process. From the heartfelt Letters of Recommendation (LOR) to advising me on program selection, they always checked in on me whenever I appeared at school with a pile of messy papers and a hurried look on my face.

Thanks also to the seniors in Hungary who fully supported and guided me throughout this journey of “learning for passion.” I appreciate my friends who have accompanied me during moments of worry and tears.

Most importantly, I sincerely thank my family for always supporting and encouraging me on this long journey.

-What message would you like to share with VNUK-ers and all others on their journey to pursue their dreams?

I want to spread this positive energy to everyone who is on the path to chasing and conquering their dreams.

“Sometimes it takes time … just remember, never stop fighting. If you believe in it, always fight for it. Keep the faith and never lose hope.” This is what I have constantly reminded myself throughout my scholarship journey. Challenges and difficulties will always arise, but if you believe in your goal, persevere and give your best effort. Every effort will be rewarded accordingly.
