The VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK), University of Danang, continues to partner with the Kulturstudier program in its annual cultural exchange activities by organizing a Field Trip to the Katu community village (Dong Giang). This is one of the important practical experiences, helping international students gain in-depth access to local culture, history, and people, while contributing to building a multinational and international learning environment at VNUK.

Purpose of the Trip
The Field Trip was designed to:
– Enhance field experience for students in the Development Studies program;
– Promote cultural exchange between VNUK students and Norwegian students (Kulturstudier);
– Build relationships and intercultural communication skills through practical activities and community interviews;
– Document and preserve traditional cultural values through direct interaction with the Katu community.

Highlight Activities of This Trip
In this Fall’s trip, the group participated in many unique activities, including:
– Community interview session: Students practiced interviewing skills, collecting materials about village life, traditional crafts, and historical stories;
– Traditional cultural performances: Experiencing Gong music and the “tung tung ya ya” dance around the campfire;
– Folk culinary experience: Enjoying traditional local dishes, learning about their origins and culinary significance;
– Interactive activities – small workshops: Group discussions and sharing perspectives between international students and community members;
– Visiting relics and village spaces: Communicating with village elders, exploring stilt houses and local handicrafts.

Significance of This Visit
The Field Trip to the Katu village not only provided valuable hands-on experience for students but also:
