    Champion of U-Invent 7 with the Landslide Detection and Warning System Project

    On January 5, 2025, the VN – UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK), University of Danang, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Da Nang City and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), organized the Final Round of the 7th U-Invent Competition.

    The Final Round of U-Invent 7 took place in a vibrant atmosphere, featuring six projects with practical significance for the community.

    Attending the event were Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thanh An – Acting Head of the Policy Programme, UNICEF Viet Nam; Mr. Phạm Tấn Ngọc Thụy – Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City; Ms. Vũ Thị Bích Hậu – Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Da Nang City; Dr. Trần Thế Vũ – Vice Director of VNUK; representatives from the Department of Training, the Center for Information – Learning Resources and Communication of the University of Danang; principals of several high schools in the city; along with parents, contestants, and students cheering for the teams.

    Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thanh An – Acting Head of the Policy Programme, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Viet Nam, shared at the event: “This is an inspiring journey that sparks the creativity of young people, bringing knowledge to contribute to a safer and healthier life.”

    In the Final Round, the six best teams each had 12 minutes to present their product pitch based on a project overview report, project overview poster, and a high-fidelity prototype, followed by 12 minutes of Q&A with the Judges – esteemed experts in relevant fields.

    The First Prize went to the project “Landslide Detection and Warning System” by Team C.A.C (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang) with a prize package including 20 million VND in cash, a commemorative medal, a certificate, gifts from sponsors, and a support package to participate in the “Invent for the Planet” (IFTP) 2024 competition in the USA worth $1,500 (approximately 36 million VND); along with the opportunity to receive scholarships from VNUK and a full scholarship for the Indigo Research Intensive Seasonal (IRIS) Program worth over 100 million VND.

    -The Second Prize was awarded to Team Bright Spark from Hermann Gmeiner High School & Phan Chau Trinh High School for their project, a Sign Language Website. The prize includes 15 million VND in cash, a commemorative medal, a certificate, gifts from sponsors, and the opportunity to receive scholarships from VNUK.

    -The Third Prize went to Team Arise Force from Hoa Vang High School & Nguyen Van Thoai High School for their project, a Civil Firefighting Robot. The award includes 10 million VND in cash, a commemorative medal, a certificate, and gifts from sponsors.

    -The Creativity Award was given to Team Green Rebirth from FPT High School (HOPE) Da Nang for their project: Developing a method to reduce milk carton waste to protect the environment.

    The Consolation Prizes were awarded to the following teams:

    • SWClean from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted & Phan Chau Trinh High School for their project: Remote Greenhouse Monitoring and Control System using IoT and Lora Technology.

    • The Passion from Hoa Vang High School & FPT High School (HOPE) Da Nang for their project: Developing products from guava leaves to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

    U-Invent 7 officially concluded with moments full of explosive creativity and determination from the competing teams. More than just an academic competition

    U-Invent 7 became a journey for young people to explore their potential, push beyond their limits, and bring many groundbreaking ideas to life.

    More than the final results, what remains are the valuable experiences and memorable journeys the contestants have gone through. This will serve as a solid foundation for them to confidently reach further arenas, such as the National Science and Engineering Fair (ViSEF) or Invent for the Planet (IFTP) in the United States, bridging university classrooms with high schools and businesses, and bringing knowledge to serve the community.
