There are two main reasons why I decided to study the MA TESOL with VNUK and NTU. First, I had more time to equip myself with knowledge and skills before heading to study in a foreign country. Thanks to the 3 months of studying in Vietnam, I could take advantage of it to learn more about UK culture and people, which helped me avoid culture shock. I had never been abroad before, so thorough preparation was very important.

The second reason is that the joint program helped me save living and accommodation expenses compared to studying full-time in the UK. The UK has a very high cost of living, one of the highest in the world, so I was quite concerned about finances when going abroad. That’s why the MA TESOL program with VNUK and NTU was my ideal choice.

Abundant and high-quality study materials help me improve my knowledge and skills

One of the things that impressed me most during the MA TESOL program was the amount of reading material I had to prepare before each class. I remember that for some subjects, I had to read at least 20 pages of materials, and for some, up to 40 pages.

At first, I felt overwhelmed because the terminology was both numerous and difficult. I had to look up words in the dictionary and refer to additional resources to fully understand the content. Although it took a lot of time, this process helped me improve my reading comprehension, summarizing skills, and note-taking.

I feel more mature and confident after studying the VNUK x NTU MA TESOL Programme

My life has changed significantly since joining the MA TESOL program. First, I noticed a change in myself. I feel more mature and confident because during the course, I had the chance to meet many talented and dedicated seniors and friends who gave me valuable advice.

From an academic perspective, after completing the MA TESOL program, I have ‘pocketed’ many valuable theories about teaching as well as various teaching methods. Besides that, I have accessed many new and useful resources. Professionally, I noticed an improvement in my ability to deliver lessons and manage the classroom. The MA TESOL program has helped me become more confident when standing in front of a class and provide solid reasons for the decisions I make in each lesson.

Make a clear, detailed plan and fully understand the Master’s program in English you choose

For those who are unsure about the program, you should carefully consider financial issues, your personal goals, and thoroughly research the modules you will study in the TESOL course.

For those about to join the VNUK x NTU MA TESOL Programme, you should have a clear and specific study plan and actively ask questions whenever you have doubts. Also, don’t forget to take care of your mental health. Wishing you joyful and memorable experiences on your upcoming MA TESOL journey!
