VNUK: Can you introduce yourself a bit?

My name is Lê Ngọc Phương Trinh, a student majoring in International Tourism and Hospitality Management, class of 2019. During my time at VNUK, I have learned a lot from the professors. I always tried my best and achieved some accomplishments, such as receiving Merit scholarships for three consecutive years, being highly evaluated by companies during my internship, and being in the top of students with the highest thesis defense scores in 2019.

Currently, I am taking some time off before entering the labor market. However, I have applied to several companies and am waiting for results. I hope to have the opportunity to work in a company with an environment that will allow me to fully develop my potential.

VNUK: As one of VNUK’s outstanding students, what do you think your strengths are that will help you stand out in the highly competitive job market today?

I believe my strength lies in my observation skills and attention to detail. Observation helps me gather information and absorb knowledge quickly, and it also allows me to explore and learn independently. In the tourism and hospitality industry, being meticulous is essential, so I believe my ability to focus on details will help me work more efficiently and professionally in the future.

Moreover, during my time at VNUK, the combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application has kept me updated and aligned with the current market. I learned not only the theory but also how to apply it in real-world situations, which helped me sharpen other skills as well. This has made me more confident as I enter the workforce, knowing that I received comprehensive training and have specialized knowledge in my field. Additionally, the knowledge I gained helps me approach tasks in a logical and effective way.

VNUK: If you were to share about a professor who had the most positive impact during your four years at VNUK, who would you mention?

Over the four years at VNUK, depending on the phase, various professors have had a positive impact on me. I can’t say one person had the most influence, but there are two professors who supported me greatly during my time at VNUK: Professor Ngô Hoàng Phương and Ms. Nguyễn Thuỳ Linh. Ms. Linh accompanied me and helped me successfully complete my thesis defense, while Professor Phương guided me more clearly about my career and future job prospects. I am grateful to be a part of VNUK and to have been mentored by both Professor Phương and Ms. Linh.

VNUK: Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) is a very “hot” field recently, which means the job competition in this field is fierce. As someone who has gone before, do you have any advice for current students in this field?

To differentiate yourself, I think students should try to master the knowledge taught at school and not be afraid to express their own opinions. This is one way to expand your knowledge. Additionally, always do your best. If you achieve the desired results, that’s wonderful, but even if you don’t, you won’t regret having put in the effort. Give it your all, because you never know how capable you are until you truly try.
