In recent years, although VNUK’s primary mission has been to build a core team of staff and pilot international training programs, the institution has also placed great emphasis on promoting scientific research, fostering cooperation with enterprises, and has achieved significant accomplishments in this field.
Over the past seven years, VNUK’s teaching staff has been nurtured and further developed in terms of academic qualifications. At present, vnuk has 40 lecturers, including 01 Associate Professor, 11 PhDs, 02 PhD candidates, and 26 Master’s degree holders. The research capacity of the lecturers, especially the younger faculty members, has been continuously enhanced. Measures to promote scientific research activities at VNUK have yielded encouraging results.
To date, VNUK has published a total of 98 scientific papers, of which international publications account for the highest proportion at 55% (54 papers), domestic publications account for 31% (30 papers), and conference proceedings account for 14% (14 papers). The international scientific papers have been published in reputable journals listed in WoS/Scopus, Schimago, ABS, and ABDS databases.
The number of international scientific publications has steadily increased each year. In particular, in 2022, the number rose by 30% compared to 2021 and doubled compared to 2016. However, the number of papers published in reputable domestic journals recognized by the National Professorship Council has shown a declining trend. The total number of such domestic publications is 30, two-thirds of which are in the field of Natural Sciences, as the number of faculty members in Natural Sciences exceeds that in the Social Sciences. Nonetheless, the quality of these publications remains high, with 24 papers scoring over 0.75 points—four times higher than the number of papers scoring below 0.75 points (06 papers).
The total number of papers published in the proceedings of international and domestic conferences to date is 14, of which research papers in the Social Sciences account for the highest proportion at 73%, four times higher than those in the Natural Sciences.
In the academic year 2022, the VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education, University of Danang (VNUK), made significant progress in science and technology activities and scientific research, both in breadth and depth. With the strategy of being “Proactive, Flexible, Adaptive, and Continuously Improving” and through the tireless efforts of its staff and lecturers in science, technology, and international cooperation, the Institute has gradually built upon its achievements and continued to enhance its academic reputation. The number of scientific research projects reached one national-level project and seventeen institute-level projects.
Alongside the increasing number of PhDs and Master’s degree holders in the Institute, the number of international publications has also grown, leading to an increase in the average number of papers per PhD since 2017. In 2020, the rate reached 2.37, tripling compared to 2017, demonstrating the annual growth in research efficiency and quality at VNUK.
In addition, the Institute has strengthened the organization of various scientific research activities and academic exchanges, both among internal faculty members and with external partners. The aim is to increase both the quantity and quality of scientific research projects conducted by the institution’s staff at the national, ministerial, and provincial/city levels, as well as to raise the number of faculty publications in reputable domestic and international journals.
In keeping with the development of society in the digital era, the staff, lecturers, and students of the Institute will continue to uphold the values of liberal education, with humanism, scientific spirit, and a commitment to lifelong learning by each individual, working toward the goal of building a prosperous and progressive society.
