Development Orientation of Science, Technology & Innovation (STI) at VNUK

(2026 - 2030)

1. Vision and Development Goals of STI for the period 2026–2030

– Vision:

  • Develop Science, Technology & Innovation (STI) in alignment with the process of digital transformation, green transition, knowledge economy development, and improvement of labor productivity and growth quality;
  • Promote international integration and cooperation, leveraging global knowledge, advanced technologies, and resources.

– Development Goals for 2026–2030:

  • Create favorable conditions to enhance teaching capacity, research capacity of faculty members, especially young lecturers;
  • Strengthen the application of scientific knowledge in management, teaching, and scientific research;
  • Promote technology transfer activities between universities, institutions, and enterprises;
  • Educate, attract, and foster talents in science, technology, and innovation at higher levels;
  • Enhance international cooperation in scientific research and training.

2. Key Tasks for STI Development during 2026–2030

  • Develop multi-/interdisciplinary research programs focusing on VNUK’s strengths (biomass, advanced materials, nanomaterials, AI, IoT, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences);
  • Develop research infrastructure such as key laboratories, prioritized research areas, and strategic technology application programs, including: Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, IoT, Biotechnology, Environmental Technologies, Renewable Energy, and Digital Technologies in education and training;
  • Implement research and innovation activities for students, encourage and create conditions for them to participate in national and international competitions;
  • Continue to improve the quality of scientific research, strengthen publications in prestigious international journals indexed in Web of Science/Scopus; increase the number of patents, useful solutions, intellectual property assets, along with appropriate reward policies;
  • Modernize and internationalize research, technology transfer, and innovation activities; enhance the research and technology transfer capacity of VNUK lecturers and students; participate in global scientific research networks, attract experts, intellectuals, and overseas Vietnamese to join interdisciplinary research activities;
  • Develop an Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center closely linked with incubation programs for students at the Vietnam-UK Institute for Research and Education (VNUK); establish community-based research programs, develop innovation capacity, and promote STEM activities for general education.
