Objectives

• Contribute to the implementation of Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW on the development of science and technology serving the cause of industrialization and modernization in the context of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration, as adopted at the 6th Plenum of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Decision No. 418/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the Strategy for Science and Technology Development for the 2011–2020 period.
• Ensure the maintenance of a dynamic, internationally competitive research foundation that is responsive to societal demands.
• Strengthen scientific research capacity to approach the international level in several key fields of science, technology, and economics, thereby contributing to enhancing the reputation and academic standing of the Vietnam–UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK).
• Promote scientific research activities and academic exchanges within the university’s faculty as well as between the faculty and external partners. Increase both the quantity and quality of research projects conducted by the university’s staff at national, ministerial, and provincial/municipal levels. Increase the number of faculty publications in reputable domestic and international journals.
• Develop cooperation in science and technology activities with domestic and international training institutions, research organizations, and enterprises. Implement joint research projects with universities at home and abroad; coordinate and deploy research projects linked to the socio-economic development of the provinces in the Central and Central Highlands regions and nationwide. Enhance the organization and co-organization of national and international scientific conferences and seminars.
• Promote entrepreneurship and technology transfer activities. Strengthen pilot production, technology transfer, and the application of scientific and technological advances in production; implement science and technology contracts; and closely link research activities with practical applications.
• Foster scientific research activities among students, training a workforce capable of promptly applying scientific, technical, and technological knowledge to their professional activities in domestic and foreign organizations and enterprises.

The leadership and staff of the Vietnam–UK Institute for Research and Executive Education have proposed the following directions for the coming years:

• Develop science and technology in alignment with the orientations of the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
• Conduct scientific research and develop technology to improve training quality and enhance the Institute’s domestic and international standing.
• Build and develop the Institute’s scientific and technological activities following the orientation of an applied university.
• Implement scientific research with a focus on increasing reputable international publications indexed in ISI and Scopus, and develop certain applied and commercialized products.
• Strengthen student scientific research activities and support entrepreneurship initiatives.
• Develop the Institute’s specialized laboratories in line with requirements for scientific research outcomes.
