Proud VNUK Student: Lê Ngọc Uyên Thi represents Vietnamese adolescents at the Global Forum HCA-II 2026 in Ghana

Lê Ngọc Uyên Thi, an alumna of Phan Châu Trinh High School and a K19 Biomedical Science (BMS) student at VNUK, is one of the enthusiastic young faces of the student community. Although studying a research-oriented major, Uyên Thi has a passion for event organizing, which led her to connect with UNICEF and become an active member in youth activities during 2023–2025.

A journey that began from a serendipitous “coincidence”

Uyên Thi shared:
“I am Lê Ngọc Uyên Thi, a K19 BMS student at VNUK. Although I study research and experiments, I really enjoy getting involved in event organizing activities. Thanks to that, I have had the opportunity to experience many projects and stay connected with UNICEF until now.”

When she received the news that she was selected to attend UNICEF’s Global Learning Forum in Ghana, Thi still could not believe her eyes.
“When Ms. Đoàn Minh Thu informed me, I thought it was just a short domestic trip for Vietnamese adolescents. I didn’t expect to become the representative of Da Nang adolescents together with UNICEF Vietnam to travel all the way to Ghana, Africa! I am truly grateful to Ms. Thu for persistently supporting my application.”

Experiences that shaped mindset and growth

Uyên Thi said that her journey with UNICEF came to her very naturally:
“Whenever there was an event, Ms. Thu would call me. At first, I only thought: ‘I’ll prioritize whatever seems fun,’ but the more I participated, the more I learned so many valuable things from the MIS team and other project members. Nothing was planned beforehand, but those unexpected opportunities brought precious experiences.”

What changed Thi the most was her perspective on community projects:
“Working between VNUK and UNICEF helped me understand event organizing processes, how a professional team operates, and the importance of creating playgrounds for adolescents. I feel happy to contribute even a small part to these collective activities.”

A foundation from VNUK – the launching pad for confident international integration

Alongside practical experience, Uyên Thi affirmed that the environment at VNUK provided her with a strong working foundation:
“At VNUK, I learned structured thinking and how to work systematically. I learned how to turn ideas into plans and execute them clearly. Thanks to that, I was not overwhelmed when joining community projects or working with international organizations.”

When asked what message she wanted to convey to international friends, Thi expressed:
“I want to spread the image of young Vietnamese people who are dynamic, open-minded, and eager to learn. I hope UNICEF Vietnam will have more international collaborations so that young people can gain more experiences. And I hope this trip will help the UNICEF Vietnam team become a bridge for Vietnamese adolescents to be better understood by the international community.”

VNUK – A place that connects communities and nurtures holistic development

At VNUK, the Institute always emphasizes building an open learning environment, creating opportunities for students to participate in social and community activities, and collaborating with reputable organizations domestically and internationally. Uyên Thi is a clear example of a VNUK student who is confident, proactive, and ready for global integration.

Once again, congratulations to Lê Ngọc Uyên Thi.
Wishing you a meaningful journey in Ghana and continued success in spreading the spirit of Vietnamese youth to friends around the world!
