Seminar-hoc-thuat

On October 21, the Science and Technology Division of the Vietnam–UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK), University of Danang, will host an academic seminar entitled “Liquid Crystal-Based Biosensors for the Detection of Small Chemical Molecules/Biomolecules.”

The seminar will be led by Dr. Nguyen Duy Khiem, Lecturer in Nanotechnology at VNUK. The session will present Dr. Khiem’s research on the principles and fabrication of liquid crystal-based biosensors, as well as their applications in detecting and quantifying various substances such as dopamine, arsenic, enzymes, and pesticides.

“Liquid crystal-based biosensors offer rapid, accurate, and simple approaches for the detection and analysis of a wide range of compounds. The operating principle of these systems relies on changes in the alignment of liquid crystal molecules caused by molecular interactions or enzymatic hydrolysis.

Leveraging the unique properties of liquid crystals, chemical and biochemical interactions can be amplified and converted into optical signals easily observed under a polarized light microscope. Consequently, liquid crystal-based biosensors have potential applications across multiple fields, including medical diagnostics, environmental analysis, and food safety.”

The Science and Technology Division of VNUK cordially invites scholars and students with an interest in this topic to attend the seminar, engage in discussion, and exchange ideas with the guest speaker.
