Where is Nottingham?
Nottingham is in the middle of England, about 2 hours by train from London and Manchester.
It’s a vibrant city with over 60,000 students living here – 25,000 of those are from NTU.
Great transport links and our central location means it’s easy for you and your friends to travel around the UK and further into Europe in your spare time.
It also means there are a number of options on how you can travel here when you first arrive.
Nottingham is quite a small city by UK standards and has a compact city centre.
Our students love the fact they can walk around the city and find everything they need for work and leisure.

“Nottingham’s the perfect size. It’s not a really big city like London. I live in the centre and I can get most things I need without difficulty. You can easily travel around and it won’t cost you a fortune. I’ve been to Bath, Liverpool, York and Edinburgh which was great fun. Weather
British weather is quite unpredictable but we rarely have extreme temperatures in Nottingham.
We have warm summers (average of 18° in July) where you can enjoy up to 16 hours of daylight.
Winter is cold (average 3° in January) and there is snow occasionally.
All of our buildings and most public transport in Nottingham has heating for the cooler months so you won’t feel cold when you’re inside.
You’ll need a warm coat but you can buy them very cheaply here in Nottingham.
Cost of living
The cost of living in Nottingham is lower than in big cities like London and Manchester.
If you need a visa you’ll need to show that you have £1,015 available each month for nine months of your course.

Some things you’ll love
Nottingham’s a city of art, culture, sport, food, nightlife and great shopping – there really is something for everyone.
Nottingham is home to a number of theatres, music venues and exhibition spaces.
You can explore Nottingham Castle, famous for its connections with Robin Hood, or take a trip into the network of caves beneath the city that date back to the dark ages.
Nottingham has two football clubs, Nottingham Forest and Notts County, the world-famous Trent Bridge cricket ground as well as the National Ice Centre and the National Water Sports Centre.
One way that Nottingham celebrates its ethnic diversity is through its international restaurants and supermarkets, so you’ll never feel too far from home.
This is as well as traditional tea rooms and award-winning coffee shops.
Nottingham is a top shopping destination too. You’ll find all the major high street names here, as well as designers and independent and vintage retailers.
