The seminar “Which future for you?” and Educational perspective

Parents should not apply their own policies, an educational orientation that they achieved 20 years ago to direct for their children in the revolutionary era 4.0.

The seminar “Which future for you?” was held on last Saturday morning

Do not force the children to follow a pre-set route

Staring the story, Profesor Nguyen Lan Dung shared that he and the Vietnam Education and Electronic Newspaper have organized many conversations with students of plenty of schools across the country.

The students were very excited to listen and gain a wealth of life lessons, to learn and have the right choice for the future.

From the reality of his family life, professor Dung has narrated plain story but full of humanity and education on teaching children how to be human, how to exercise health and well-behavior.

According to the professor, life skills are extremely important. Training life skills is a regular work of the teacher, creating a morality for students.

However, parents play a crucial role during that training because teachers only have a small amount of time at school with their children.

“Every parent wants their children to be successful and in order to achieve that, they must orient careers for their children from a young age.

But forcing them to follow the pre-set route or fulfilling the unfinished dreams of adults are inadvisable. First of all, see what their aptitude is, what their aspirations are to grow with that.”

Professor Nguyen Lan Dung also recited the story of a college girl who gave up the banking industry of her parent’s expectation to follow the business path.

She has launch the first Tofu restaurant in HCM city then established the chain of Durian Flavour restaurant in HCM city and many other provinces.

“You all have to know that every human life has only about 4000 weeks so do not let time pass by vaguely and uselessly. If you voluntarily define your own life, you will gain happiness.”

In many conversations in schools, I always ask a big question “what do we learn for?” And the answers I get are we learn to get to university or to reduce our parents’ burdens.

As foreign students, their answers are learning to make them freedom. It was creative freedom, freedom in idea and spirit. That is worth thinking.

Children become mature because of themselves, not a copy version of their parents.

According to the Professor, there are 8 types of children’s intelligent, and parents’ mission is to discover and nurture them in order for their children to develop confidentially in the right direction.

There are students whose aptitude are language, communication, while others are good at physical training. Professor also gave some pieces of advice to parents when they orient their children future.

4 big questions for students

Mr. Le Dinh Hieu – the Director of Talent Generation program of UNESCO with more than 10 years of developing education. He is the one who was honored to be one of 30 young leaders under 30 years old and has the biggest influences of Vietnam voted by Forbes Vietnam Magazine in 2016. Recently, he was also honored to be voted as one of 10 typical young Vietnamese faces by the Central Union and has had sharing with parents and students.

Choosing a school and major for your children, orienting your children; etc, are always the biggest concern in every family.

Mr. Le Dinh Hieu – The Director of Talent Generation Talents of UNESCO

Mr. Hieu raised the question:

“With the rapid development of the 4.0 revolution, for the medical group alone, the medical knowledge has doubled in average 2 months. So there is no school can teach enough knowledge for students?

The first thing I recommend is that just laying aside what parents know about education 20 years ago. We cannot apply educational policies from 20 years ago to guide children today.”

Mr. Hieu continued the story, so what is necessary for university education? What is necessary to study at university? This is a question that even many major universities are still concerned about.

If from 50 to 100 years ago, the introduction of university education is to prepare for you a career. But higher education must now help students answer the following 4 questions:

  • First, let them decide what they need to know. Teaching them freedom, the judgment in order for them to know what they need. What do they need to know among the huge amount of knowledge?
  • The second is that among what they already know, what should they do?
  • Third, what is useful for society among the things they should do?
  • Last but not least, in order to answer the question, what are the things that make them feel happy?

Mr. Le Dinh Hieu said that University must help them answer these questions.

The seminar “Which future for you?” and parents’ long-time concern

With more than 20 years of experience working and teaching in the educational environment, witnessing many cases of students going to school, learning hard, receiving the bad results and then leading to fail the test and learn again. When asked why the achievements in high school are quite good, but they do not have a place to perform, the majority of students above have the same answer: Can not find the passion on the path that they are following. Many students share that they go to the flow of the HOT major because of their imposition in accordance with their parents’ wishes, not their own choices. They try to do what they do not like, try hard and then one day they completely lose the orientation of their life.

In the face of many cases like that, Dr. Nguyen Thi My Huong – Deputy Director in charge of Vietnam – English Institute, Danang University has organized a dedicated seminar “Which future for you?”. It is The seminar is a bridge that connects parents and children, helping parents understand their children more. The seminar brings to the parents an overview of the career trend in the 4.0 era. At the same time, it also gives them opportunities to listen to the sharing, the real story of successful people in their own passions and of those whose children succeed through the way of raising and orienting properly children.

[Internship corner] Excellent VNUK students win 3/5 OFFICIAL INTERNSHIPS at Framgia company

Recently, VNUK students of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) have successfully surpassed dozens of candidates from other universities to conquer 3/5 official internships, an unofficial rate at “King of IT”- Framgia Company. Let’s listen to the interesting story of 4 VNUKer who are about to enter their memorable internship!

Founded from 2012, Framgia with a rapid growth rate has grown to become a professional IT team whose officers at 11 big cities in 6 Asian countries with more than 1000 members, 80% among them are programming engineer. The main service of the company includes system design, UI/UX design, infrastructure construction, start-up enterprises promotion, training and nurturing human resources about Information Technology.

With the development and international professional working environment, Framgia Company deserves to be a “dream” internship place for many students in the field of Information Technology. The four faces of VNUK who excelled at obtaining a place for the internship in Framgia were: Dang Minh Thang, Bui Lam Quang Ngoc, Nguyen The Vinh Bao and Tran Viet Thanh.

The journey becomes trainees of VNUK students

Dang Minh Thang shared:

“The story began when I stumbled upon the company’s recruitment news in social media on a beautiful day. I have already learned about the company before and this company is working on an area that I like (making a website).  At that moment I took a risk to apply through email for the company’s recruitment department. Surprisingly after a few minutes, I received a response for the input test. I felt quite nervous at that time and the day before the test I have spent time reviewing. On the day of the exam, I picked up the sheet and was quite surprised because the topic was both long and had advanced questions. After finishing, I went home and received a phone call from the HR department of the company informing me that I had passed this entrance exam and made an appointment for a Technical Interview. The thing I worrier is this interview because I’ve never been interviewed before.”

Wanting to conquer employers, passion is not enough!

The students are not only under pressure by the first time interviewed for a big enterprise but also worry about tough rounds, and the rate of passing is low in the total number of applicants. Vinh Bao said: “The procedure of entering the internship includes takings tests, technical interviews, interviews with the HR department about career, future and human orientation.”

“During the interview process, I can show my own knowledge and express myself with the inquisitive as well as progressive spirit.” – Quang Ngoc shared.

Therefore, in order to conquer the employers, the candidates not only show their passion but also express their true professional capacities. The future interns must fully prepare the practical skill and experience to be ready for the real internship! At VNUK, students are focused on developing strong professional skills through real experiences from the first year as well as over the course of studying at business partner system of VNUK.

Let’s wish our student a successful and memorable internship!

VNUK students spread love through a meaningful charity project

For the past few days, VNUK students had an opportunity to experience and share with underprivileged people through a meaningful charity project.

A meaningful charity project

The project is incorporated into the syllabus of Personal Development Planning course instructed by Mr. Steve Carbon. This activity is aimed at facilitating students’ pragmatic application of learnt theories as well as contributing to the society with our efforts and genuine compassion. VNUK seeks to orient its student development path of not only acumen, knowledge, soft skills but also compassion: being able to share with underprivileged people.

This annual charity program is one of the most value-driven to VNUK students. The students gained hands-on experience in executing a project from sales promotion to sales management. All profits are donated for charitable purposes in remote areas. It might not seem to be a large sum of money, but it epitomizes VNUK students’ compassion and efforts in giving back to the society.

In order to carry out the project, the students are divided into two groups. Each group sets up its own fund-raising plan and devises its own management and development strategies. Besides, each group is fully entitled to choose the place it wants to come and help local people. Two destinations that were chosen this year are Ta Lang Village and Danang Social Protection Center.

A sharing from one VNUK students:

Personal Development Planning is one of my favourite introductory courses at VNUK because when taking classes like this, we obtain various precious lessons such as the importance of self-awareness, personal development, self-value and future career orientation. Above all, I learn to lead a compassionate life: to empathise and share the beauties and joys to the surrounding. Conducting this charity project is one of the obvious witnesses to our specific maturity.”
